Our Friend Lonesome Ron

ronWe have a musical friend called Lonesome Ron.  He is the kind of fella that is always there if needed.  The kind of friend that we don’t often see, and when we do, he is just all Ron once again.  He remembers every-ones birthday (even my daughter’s!)  and sends a musical greeting of his own device.

He is kind, tall, and good.  We very much like Ron!

Ron is talented, he yodels, he sings cowboy songs, jazz, rock. he plays a bass, a guitar, a mandolin, and more than likely many more instruments.

Well all, Our Lonesome Ron has released his first CD and his having a release party this weekend.  I wish we could go, but we are at a family event that night.  But y’all  if you are in the Mankato area on March 28th, stop in, your time will be well spent!!!ron cd release

Another Spring, another June Cook Off at Fort Sisseton

We love the Fort Sisseton Historical Festival.  We love the beautiful countryside, the wonderfully restored fort, patrick wagonthe June weather.    Every spring we head just a little west for days of revisiting old friends, the Swanson’s, the Patrick’s, the McCaffre’s, and more.  The festival has lots to offer, art, militaryatfortmountain men, soldiers cowboys, wagons, , campfires, and fun.

Right about now we dust off our cook books, start practicing our biscuits and inventory our supplies.  Maybe this year y’all can come out and join us for a good time!wateratfort

Change is in the air, a positive resolution to counteract the cold!  We are once more changing our website.  (I rearrange furniture all of the time as well)  Stay posted for more changes, and take a peek at what has been done today.

Deer Hunting

Our JT has an annual hunting expedition down to Windom with his old buddy Wally. Every year he gears up, sorts through his blaze orange clothing, prepares his weapon, oils his boots, and sets off.

He always gets a deer, usually early Saturday morning. I think for him, the hunting is a combination of putting food on the table and being with like minds. Men who can get down and grubby, take naps, drink beer, talk about manly things. They have a week of fried potatoes and bacon, steaks, smoked meats, and bad movies on Wally’s ancient VCR. A week of bonding and becoming hunters, ancient providers.

This is a week that must always be!
